Powerful Message/Video
We wanted everyone to have a chance to check this out. This is a music video by the band “Simple Plan” – they have put together a video that is very powerful and effective in showing the impact upon an entire family when one person is hit and killed by a drunk driver.
Our entire family and everyone who loves Pat was also hit and thrown at the instant Pat was hit by a drunk driver. All of our lives have been strongly shaken and thrown into emotional and physical turmoil beginning with the initial impact. This video is very effective at showing how the act of a drunk driver not only takes the life of the individual he/she hit, the entire family and all of that person’s friends are also hit, our lives thrown across the room, left shattered by our indescribable loss.
They sing the words from the point of view of the drunk driver – and even though the person in the video regrets what happened AFTERWARDS, his feelings STILL cannot change what just happened. It illustrates the very important point that plans need to be made BEFORE one makes the choice to drink – plans to avoid driving while intoxicated – because after it happens, no matter the depth of one’s remorse, reality cannot be changed.
Along with awareness for bicycle safety and the other community awareness Nancy is trying to keep in the forefront, we all also want to raise awareness against drunk driving.
