It feels good to talk

Posted on August 30th, 2008 by Tommy

Hi, it’s Tommy again.

Thank you, Pam, for telling me about such a great idea to plant a tree for Papa.  There’s a plum tree that’s in our side yard that’s perfect for climbing because it’s hidden away in a bush.  I’m not tall enough to reach the first branch, so I grab the trunk, put my feet on it, and pull myself up to the first branch.  It’s hard even then, but I make it. Then I have a great place to hang out.  Once I dangled my feet off by just holding on with my hands on a high branch, but Laura (my little sister) told on me and almost started to cry.  I took the seed of one of the plums and tried to plant it.  I know it’s a very low chance that it’ll be able to grow, and it won’t have the same delicious fruit as the parent plum tree, so I just might buy a baby tree to plant. When Papa was a kid, he would climb mulberry trees and eat their delicious fruit.

I had a dream last night of where I went on a plane trip for 5 days, but I slept through it all.  When we got there, I couldn’t hear anything.  I was blinded by the sunlight and there was sand everywhere, but Laura was buried neck-deep in mud.  As I stretched my legs, Papa got Laura out, and then I fell unconscious in the dream for a week.  When I woke up in my dream, I was in a cave and someone and Papa were serving pizza, but no one wanted to eat Papa’s pizza except for me.  Then I woke up.  I have no idea what that dream meant, but I have been wanting to dream about Papa, and I actually did like that dream a little bit.  It’s the first one I’ve had with Papa in it since he died.

My oldest brother Danny did a triathlon today in Niles, and it was a really long one.  He was competing against two people who were younger than him, and the rest were men.  Danny got 21st place for the mens.  I saw some really old people that were doing it in the Olympic distance, which was longer than what Danny did.  That’s what Papa wished that he would be like when he was that old–in great athletic shape.

Thank you for reading,

Tommy
