Funeral Procession Bike Ride with Police Escort: Monday, 7/28 @ 9:30 AM

Henry Scott, Matt Mooney and many others have organized a police escorted bike ride on the morning of Patrick’s funeral.

From bikemichiana.org:

This will be a bicycle procession in honor of Patrick on the day of the funeral. We will have a police escort. This is a short and somber ride. This ride is meant to be slow in an attempt to show respect for our fallen friend. The idea is to stay together and remember Patrick. Additionally, we hope that passing motorists will realize the need to share the road and the responsibility they have as drivers.

The ride will start and end at the Little Flower Church (54191 Ironwood Rd). The ride will start at 9:30 AM.

The county has placed two requirements on this ride:

1. No one under that age of 18 may participate in the ride. We are sorry about this requirement, as many families have expressed an interest in doing something to help. However, there is a family ride in development. Please be patient and look for more information on this ride soon.

2. Helmets MUST be worn. No one will be allowed to participate in the ride without a helmet. No exceptions will be made.

Here’s a map of the route.

A separate Patrick Sawyer Memorial Bike Ride is being planned for Tuesday.  More info on that coming…

I hope many will bring their bikes for the funeral!
